The New Jersey Pine Barrens, named a National Preserve back in 1978, spreads across seven southern counties and stands as the largest remaining example of the Atlantic Coastal Pine Barrens. This massive, mostly wild area helps refill a massive 17 trillion gallon aquifer with some of the cleanest water in the country. The area is famous for being the home of the Jersey Devil along with a few other ghosts and critters!
