New Jersey’s cinematic roots date back to 1893 with the Black Maria, the world’s first film studio located at Edison’s West Orange laboratories.

As the birthplace of the American film industry, New Jersey hosted pioneering studios like Universal, Solax, and Fox before the industry migrated to California for economic and climatic advantages.

Despite this shift, New Jersey remains a favored filming location for numerous movies and TV shows, and this new studio opening proves that New Jersey is still a star!
